Chair and CEO, Barbara Finer

After several startups and many hours driving into Boston to 'feed her brain', Barbara started TechSandBox, the only Innovation Center in MetroWest, a coworking incubator focused on mentoring tech startups, accelerating their market entry, and serving as the destination for science and technology people in the region.

Prior to this, Barb grew revenue and market share by leading the Strategic Planning, Product Marketing, Channel and cross-functional teams for tech-sector companies. She previously held senior marketing positions at 3Com, MathSoft, NetGenesis, WebPresence and Synoptics.

With six previous startups under her belt as well as experience on Boards, raising capital, and as an Angel investor, Barbara helps TechSandBox Members with business pitches, business models, market assessment, operations and customer validation.

For TechSandBox, Barbara is at the helm, leading strategy and operations, while delivering may of the programs

Barbara has been active on several not-for-profit and for-profit Boards including the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, WPI Venture Forum, StudentBusinesses.com (bought by Kauffman Foundation) and SpiderSplat SEO. 

Barbara has a technical background and degree (BS, Northeastern University) and an advanced degree in management of innovation and technology (MS, Boston University). She teaches marketing, business and entrepreneurship as an adjunct as local colleges in her 'spare' time at such illustrious places as Babson College, Suffolk U, Emerson College, Leslie U and Becker College.


Julie Chevalier, Manager, AAFCPAs

Julie joined AAFCPAs in 2014, bringing over ten years of Federal, multistate and international business taxation experience to AAF clients. She delivers compliance, tax consulting and tax planning solutions for individuals and privately-held businesses in a variety of industries, including: real estate, retail, professional services, technology, software, manufacturing and nonprofit entities. Julie specializes in state and local taxation (SALT), including: income, franchise, property, payroll and sales and use taxes. Julie’s depth of expertise ensures that we minimize tax obligations, and that solutions are based upon deep knowledge of best practice and industry trends.

Julie trains professional staff on topics related to changing tax laws and their impact on our clients’ profitability. She is a member of AAF’s Tax Committee and Women’s Opportunity Network (WON) Committee.

She received herBachelor of Science, Business Administration, magna cum laude from Worcester State University and is  a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Julie served as the treasurer of ArtsWorcester prior to serving on the Board, as Treasurer for TechSandBox.

Juby Jacob, Senior Director, Data & Analytics, GE 

Juby leads the Master Data domain for GE O&G business in their Data & Analytics Office.   He has been instrumental in leading innovation in analytics in the current and prior roles and delivering it in a fast-paced sustainable development environment.

Juby’s focus is to help startup teams to productize data assets (from IoT) and thus enhance the value proposition for their products.  

Juby holds a graduate degree in Industrial Engineering and an M.B.A from University of Houston and received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology.

Michael Miller, Retired, Former Senior Vice President, MassDevelopment

Mr. Miller has over 40 years of experience in public and private sector real estate and business including extensive background in various aspects of land acquisition, development, permitting, leasing and financing. Mike’s law and business background have helped him serve his community as Chairman of the Planning Board and Chairman of a Zoning By-Law Task force which re-codified and modernized the town’s zoning laws. For over 11 years, he served as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Operation at MassDevelopment, the Commonwealth’s economic development and finance agency where he was head of Planning and Development and Real Estate Services.

Mike joins the TechSandBox Board with extensive experience that includes a Director and officer of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, a Director of the Andover Youth Foundation, and a Volunteer at Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm.

He holds a J.D. degree from Boston College, a M.A. degree in Taxation from Boston University and a B.S. degree in Communications from Syracuse University.

Julie O'Neill focuses her practice on business, corporate and securities law, counseling individuals and entities on a wide variety of transactional matters. Julie regularly handles corporate matters including entity formation, stock and asset acquisitions, private placements and other financings, limited liability company operating agreements and shareholders' agreements, mergers, recapitalizations, secured transactions, employment issues, licensing arrangements, general contract matters and trademark and copyright registrations.

Julie’s practice focuses largely on startup businesses, helping entrepreneurs in selecting the right legal structures for their businesses, securing debt and equity financing, and handling ongoing operational matters. She has represented many clients from the formation stage through multiple rounds of financings and finally to liquidity events.

Howard is a former co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Arts and Entertainment Law Committee, Computer and Internet Law Committee, and Intellectual Property Section. He has lectured on technology and intellectual property topics for the Massachusetts Tech Leadership Council and Technology Transfer.
